Show & Tell - July , 2008
Craig Aebli’s wife got a set of 8 kitchen knives. He brought in the block holder he made from Red Oak, stained with Red Oak, and then polyurethaned. He described the process of making it out of 4 pieces of 3/4 Red Oak.
Bill Beam brought in an Arts and Craft picture frame he had made using Walnut, etc. It was constructed of three parts and had a hand rubbed oil finish followed with wax coat.
Dean Throckmorton brought in three items: 1) An Oak salad plate that had its design lasered. 2) A Camphor turned bowl that also had some laser work done on it by Paul Woodrich. 3) Hanging Halloween skeletons he made for his great grandsons. The wooden pieces were connected with rubber bands purchased from a drugstore.
Archie Hanson showed a oval plaque made for a friend for his apartment number.
Bud Vogt passed around pictures of his remodeled kitchen. He made all new cabinet doors and brought in one to show. The panels were constructed with a tablesaw and router. The doors were brushed polyurethane, a 50/50 cut, and given two coats. He book matched the wood in the doors. The project has taken 4 years. Wow! What a patient wife. Bud also demonstrated a tool he purchased from Rockler’s category which is used to hang the cabinet doors while spraying or after painting by hand.
David Macsay had pictures of his workshop that is in process of being completed.
THIS IS A GOOD TIME to remind you that Show and Tell is also a good time to bring in the actual tool, machine, jig, device, etc. (or picture of such) that you have recently purchased or used that other Guild members could benefit from.
