Member Spotlight - April 2008

Another member who deserves a lot of mention is Ray Kropp. Ray was born in 1929 and lived in Long Island , New York before moving to Florida in 1964.  He worked for various Tool & Die companies during his career. When his eyes began to give him trouble he went into hardware sales. For a couple of years he even had his own cabinet shop.  During the last 10 years, before he retired, he worked for the Florida Turnpike in southern Florida

He met his wife in Virginia while he was in the service.  They have been married 47 years.  Together they have 6 children, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.  He has been in woodworking most of his life.  His specialty is toys and using the Ringmaster to make bowls. The best advice he can give woodworkers is to keep your fingers out the sawblade’s path.  AMEN to that after my own experience.  He gets a lot of enjoyment doing some of the volunteer work for the Guild as he is a person that likes to help people.  Thanks Ray for all the free goodies i.e. wood, ear plugs, and whatever you get your hands on.  There are a lot of kids out there that say thank you also.
