The
Central Florida Woodworkers Guild was organized in 1980
with the purpose of encouraging and promoting the best standards
of workmanship and design in the craft of woodworking. Central
Florida Woodworkers Guild members aid fellow woodworkers and
give counsel freely that foster public awareness and
appreciation of woodworking crafts.
Guild members have skills in all aspects of woodworking. Members
demonstrate their skills in furniture making, tools
construction, wooden accessories, scroll saw projects,
woodturning, carving and toy construction. Many of the members
show unique skills in the design and implementation of wood
projects. Members annually constructed more than 1,000 toys for
distribution to local charities.
The broadly based skilled members use hand tools and power
tools. Experience ranges from novice to master craftsmen. All
levels of skills are welcome. Monthly meetings are held at
Woodcraft on the second Thursday of the month. Meetings start
with a brief business discussion followed by members showing
their latest projects. The final meeting segment is a
demonstration or discussion of a technique or project of
interest to the membership.
Membership is open to adults 18 and older. Annual awards are
given for projects in five categories and Best of Show. Social
events include family picnics and a year end dinner.
